Frequently Asked Questions

Where will the program be held?

IAML conducts seminars, conferences and workshops in the hotels printed in our brochures.  The meeting room information for your program will be available at the hotel (at the front desk or posted in the lobby).

Does IAML arrange discounted room rates at those hotels?

Yes.  IAML negotiates a certain number of rooms at a discounted rate for all of our seminars, conferences and workshops.  These rooms are available on a first-come, first served basis.  The discounted rate will always expire 35 days prior to the program start date, or when sold out, whichever comes first.  When reserving a room at the hotel, you must give the reservation agent the program name, dates and our company name to receive the discounted rate.  If you attempt to make a hotel reservation and our group rate is no longer available, please call IAML, we may be able to assist you with arrangements.  You should register for the program with IAML before reserving your hotel room.

When will I receive confirmation of program registration?

Confirmations are sent via e-mail, usually within 48 hours of receipt of your registration.

Does IAML require pre-registration for programs, or can I "walk-in"?

Walk-ins are accepted, but we recommend you call IAML first to ensure that we have space and materials.

What are the program hours?

4½ day programs are 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Friday.  2½ day programs are, depending upon location, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Wednesday or 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday and 8:00 – 12:00 p.m. Friday. 

How should I dress for the program?

Business attire is not necessary.  We recommend that you dress casually and comfortably and anticipate varied temperatures in the meeting rooms.

Will I receive any study materials in advance of the program?

No.  All materials are distributed during the program and can be quite voluminous so we recommend that you consider space when packing, or make arrangements to ship the materials from the hotel to your office via your organization's overnight mail account or your credit card.

Will I receive a Certificate of Completion from IAML?

Yes, if you complete the full 4½ day seminar or 2½ day conference or workshop, you will receive a certificate from IAML approximately four weeks after the program ends.  If you attend only a portion of a seminar, you can still earn your certificate, if you complete the remaining blocks of the seminar within a two year period.  When you are at the program you must sign the attendance sheet every day.  If you do not sign in daily you will not receive a Certificate of Completion.

Is homework assigned or are tests given during the program?

For the most part, the answer is no.  There may be some instructors who suggest some minimal reading over one or two evenings of the program.

Are IAML programs approved for continuing education?

If you are working towards a degree or need credit for a professional designation (PHR/SPHR/GPHR, APA, WorldatWork, IHMM, ABIH, etc.), you may be able to receive credit for your participation.  Attorneys seeking mandatory continuing legal education credit (MCLE) may be eligible as well.  Please call for details.

If I attend a program, am I able to get contact information for my fellow participants?

Yes.  A roster of attendees is printed for each program and is included with the material you receive on the first day of the program.

Does IAML arrange group events or entertainment?

No, but IAML does host a wine and cheese reception after the first day of the program.  This provides you with an opportunity to chat with your colleagues, instructor(s) and IAML representatives.  Your evening hours and travel days are your own to enjoy in the many exciting locations at which programs are held.

Does the registration fee include travel, food and lodging?

Your registration fee includes a specially prepared manual; coffee and soft drink breaks; and a wine and cheese reception the first evening.  You are responsible for your own travel, lodging, meals and incidental expenses.

What payment options are available?

A minimum of one-half of the total fees due to IAML should accompany your registration or a Purchase Order Number should be provided.  The total fees should be received at least two weeks prior to the program, although other arrangements can be made by contacting IAML in advance.

Your payment policy indicates that advanced payment or a purchase order number is required. My organization does not allow payment until services are rendered. Is this a problem?

No.  You can register and provide a purchase order to reserve your space.  We will invoice you for the registration fee upon completion of the program.  However, these arrangements must be made at the time of registration and your certificate of completion will not be released until payment is received.

Do you offer group discounts?

Yes.  Once an organization has registered a representative for any of the 4½ day seminars or 2½ day conferences or workshops shown in the enclosed brochure(s), discounts are available.  Please review the individual brochure for details.  Very attractive discounts are available to organizations sending five or more participants to any IAML seminar/conference in any 12 month period.  Participants do not necessarily need to attend seminars/conferences at the same locations or times to be eligible for discounts.  Discounts must be requested at the time of registration.  Please call for details.

Can I hand carry my registration fee payment to the program?

We would prefer you not bring your payment with you.  Please mail your check to the Institute for Applied Management & Law, 1200 Newport Center Drive, Suite 220, Newport Beach, CA 92660.  Payment is due at least two weeks prior to the program start date.  Credit card payments may be made by phone, fax or e-mail.  We accept American Express, Mastercard and Visa.  Credit card payment receipts are generally e-mailed within two days of payment.

Your policy requires payment two weeks in advance. Can I register for a program that is taking place in less than two weeks?

Yes, based on space availability.  You will be asked for a credit card number at the time of registration, or you may be asked to send a check via overnight mail.  Because IAML's cancellation policy requires written notification at least two weeks in advance, by registering for a program less than two weeks in advance you are liable for the entire fee, even if you do not attend.

What is your cancellation policy?

Participants will receive a full refund of any fees paid if IAML receives written notification at least two weeks prior to the program's starting date.  Otherwise, participants are liable for the entire fee.

Can I transfer to a different program location or date after I've registered for a program?

Yes, providing you make your request more than two weeks in advance of the program's starting date.  If you contact us more than two weeks in advance there is no charge to transfer.  However, transfers requested less than two weeks in advance are not permitted without payment of additional fees.

Can one of my associates substitute for me if I am unable to attend?

Yes, please call IAML with the substitution information as soon as possible.

Can I purchase a manual without going to a program?

Yes, you may purchase a manual for $295.00 plus shipping and sales tax (if applicable).  Payment must accompany your order.  Because manuals are specially prepared for each session, they are not kept in stock so immediate shipment may not be available.

Can we have a program delivered at our location?
